Southern Yellow Pine is one of the most widely exported softwoods from the USA. SYP is most widely used for construction purposes including stringers, roof trusses, joists, piles, subflooring, and sheathing. For exterior uses, this species is typically pressure treated with preservatives to withstand the elements. This species is sourced from the southern and eastern regions of the US. These logs have straight, uniform grain with reddish brown heartwood and yellowish white sapwood. This species has a high degree of workability in almost all circumstances.
